Medical Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our well-established dermatology practice in San Luis Obispo, CA. This position is temporary to hire due to medical leaves and requires a swift hiring process to cover the absence of our staff. As a Dermatology Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting our dermatologists and medical staff in providing exceptional patient care during this period.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Assist dermatologists during patient examinations and minor surgical procedures.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for patients.
• Provide education and information to patients about dermatological conditions, treatment plans, and post-care instructions.
• Administer medications, injections, and treatments under the supervision of a dermatologist.
• Perform wound care, dressings, and suture removal.
• Assist with the management and sterilization of medical equipment and instruments.
• Coordinate patient appointments, schedule follow-up visits, and handle administrative tasks as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with the medical team to ensure efficient patient flow and delivery of high-quality care.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials are a plus.
• Prior experience in a dermatology or medical practice setting is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of dermatological procedures, terminology, and medical equipment.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced medical environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of patient care.
• Bilingual skills (if applicable) are an advantage.

Compensation:

• Pay Range: $18 - $22 per hour, based on experience and specialization.
• 1 year of experience with 1 specialty = $18.
• 3 years' minimum experience with more fields or specialties = $22.
