Job Description
Do you have a passion for helping patients and providing them with the care and education they need? If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you! Our office is looking to hire an experienced Medical Assistant to join our growing team!
Job Duties:
- Greet patients, assist with forms, schedule appointments, retrieve medical files, maintain medical records, and support patient discharge processes. You'll also answer phones and clarify follow-up care instructions and referrals
- Conduct patient interviews, obtain basic medical information, measure and record vital signs, height, weight, and body mass index (BMI), and prepare medical records for provider review
- Perform phlebotomy, collect urine and other non-invasive specimens, and log them for testing. You will also conduct urine dip sticks and finger-sticks for hemoglobin and glucose measurements
- Assist physicians and nurses in examining and treating patients, including handling instruments, preparing treatment sites, and administering medications as ordered.
- Provide pre/post-test client-centered HIV counseling, conduct HIV/STD risk assessments, and offer risk reduction and prevention coaching
- Keep HIV/STD testing records up-to-date, ensuring all necessary documentation is on file
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Completion of Medical Assistant training program from a recognized institution
- Completion of LA County s Division of HIV and STD Programs HIV Test Counselor Certification required within first 90-days of hire
- Basic medical terminology and patient care methods
- Experience with HIV/STD infection/treatment, prevention and transmission/acquisition
