Review records to assure patient and record identification data is correct.
Review and audit professional coding and billing from multiple departments and entities within the organization prior to billing.
Determine whether the final diagnoses and procedures stated by the physician or other health care providers are valid, complete and reflect the care and treatment rendered.
Report on the accuracy of procedure coding, E&M coding, ICD-10 coding and billing to ensure compliance with both legal and procedural policies.
Review billing processes for accuracy and process improvements
. Identify inaccurate coding services; prepares reports of findings and meets with providers and medical office staff to provide education and training on accurate coding practices and compliance issues.
Assists in training personnel in correct documentation processes and coding guidelines.
Oversee on-going projects that are within the scope of this position.
Able to meet deadlines and complete various tasks and duties as assigned correctly and in a timely manner.
Experienced and knowledgeable with EOB s, ICD10 & CPT Codes, and processing denials.
Able to complete an HCFA 1500.
Utilizes strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
Able to utilize technology using MS Office products and custom billing software programs.
Must be able to work well in a team environment.
Exercises excellent customer service skills.
A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Medical Coding. AAPC certification required.
Knowledge of ICD-10. Gastro, Internal medicine, Family Practice or procedure/surgery coding experience preferred.
Employment will be contingent upon completion of a successful background check and drug test.
Compensation negotiable based on experience and education
