Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular updates to healthcare providers on referral status
  • Monitor and track referrals to specialists or diagnostic facilities
  • Process specialty referrals for health plan members using paperless protocols
  • Adhere to standard procedures and clinical protocols for referral processing
  • Request reports from specialists and ensure timely feedback to referring providers
  • Send recall letters to remind patients of upcoming mammograms and Pap tests as per clinic protocols
  • Utilize HIPAA protocols for processing referrals to maintain patient confidentiality and security
  • Securely store and handle electronic referral packets following HIPAA guidelines
  • Maintain excellent customer service skills for interactions with staff and patients
  • Address patient inquiries and concerns regarding referrals professionally and empathetically
  • Assist in screening patients for eligibility for special programs according to care coordination protocols
  • Maintain accurate records of referral activities and patient interactions for reporting purposes

Qualifications:

  • Must have 2 years of Referral Coordination experience
