Surgery Scheduler

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent GED.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical environment.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; this is a patient facing position.
• Ability to multi-task, self-motivated and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior knowledge of insurance plans, patient registration, pre-certification, and surgery scheduling is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Interact effectively with providers, peers, patients, family members and vendors as appropriate.
• Communicates with physicians, insurance companies, and surgery departments regarding patient care.
• Schedules surgical procedures and injections with multiple facilities for multiple providers.
• Verifies and coordinates insurance eligibility and relays information to patients.
• Obtains authorizations for scheduled procedures.
• Assist patients, assemble chart information, and schedules patient appointments.
• Accurately obtains patient information, completes data entry, and completes scheduling and pre-certification processes.
• Verifies and documents approvals, faxes, and routes information as appropriate.
• Competently and accurately obtains and records patient information.
• Quickly and efficiently responds to patient and facility inquires and requests.
• Other tasks as assigned by supervisor or physician.
