Summary: As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating room and contribute to the success of scheduled surgical cases. Working closely with the surgical team, you will be responsible for preparing the operating room, assembling supplies and instruments, and assisting the surgeon during procedures. Your attention to detail, adherence to sterile techniques, and commitment to patient safety will be crucial in providing exceptional patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment following sterile techniques and surgeon preference cards.
- Maintain the sterile field, assist in draping patients, and monitor surgical team members to ensure adherence to sterile procedures.
- Provide instruments, sutures, and supplies to the surgeon as needed during procedures.
- Participate in maintaining a safe and clean environment, including infection control, equipment checks, and emergency preparedness.
- Contribute to instrument and equipment cleaning and sterile processing.
- Collaborate with the OR Charge Nurse and Director of Surgery to promptly report equipment malfunctions and discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technician program.
- CPR certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of surgical technician experience.
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical assisting skills and practices.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and hazard precautions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to stay calm and effective in emergency situations.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
Location: Geneva, IL
Type: Full-time (40 hours per week - flexible hours between 7a-5:30p)
Days: Monday through Friday
